The badlands have been featured in a recently released Hyundai commercial.
The minute-long video, published December 10 on YouTube with the translated title of “Dinosaur” with the slogan “Find Your Own Area”, is a piece of drama about a father reminiscing about his favourite childhood toy, a dinosaur, and how it he wants to share memories with his son as he grows up.
Scenes were shot east of Drumheller in the Dorothy area last year, including aerial shots of the badlands formations and scenes of the new Hyundai Palisade driving on the prairie. The video also features a CGI dinosaur. As of late February the video has earned around 22,000 views.
Drumheller communications officer Julia Fielding says the far east “is definitely a great market for us,” as foreign companies have regularly filmed segments in and around the valley. The location scout for the ad reached out to Drumheller to film here as he had worked here before and was familiar with the area.
