Man sentenced for possession of stolen keys from Drumheller business

court

A Drumheller man pleaded guilty to being in possession of stolen keys from a local business.

Tyree Ewing appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, January 11 via closed-circuit television and pleaded guilty to a number of charges.

The court heard how on November 2 of last year Ewing was apprehended by Beiseker RCMP. This was four days after Drumheller RCMP put out a press release seeking the public’s assistance to locate him. He was in possession of a hunting knife, break-in tools and six sets of keys taken from a Drumheller business.

Ewing also pleaded guilty to violating a probation order on October 14, 2018, by being in a licensed establishment.

Ewing has been in custody since the arrest for a total of 71 days and was given credit for 104 days pre-trial custody. He was sentenced to four months, leaving about 14 days remaining.

Ewing is also facing more charges originating from Airdrie. These were sent back to that jurisdiction for a bail revocation hearing.
