Man who fled from police arrested by Drumheller RCMP

A local man who previously fled from police and was wanted on outstanding warrants has been arrested by Drumheller RCMP and is scheduled to appear in court.

Drumheller RCMP attended a rural residence in to arrest Darcy Lee Ewing, 47 and of Starland County, on outstanding warrants which included resisting and obstructing a peace officer, taking a motor vehicle without consent, and two counts of failing to comply with his probation order.

The warrant stemmed from an incident on July 20 where it is alleged Ewing fled from police in a vehicle after police attempted to arrest him. Police recovered the vehicle which he was not to authorized to possess.

Ewing has previous records relating to property crime offences and was known to police.

He was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and will appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on August 10.
