The Lion’s Youth Campground was the victim of a theft of tools, equipment, and a small amount of cash on Monday, adding to the list of recent thefts in the area.
Lion’s Youth Campground spokesperson Kat Mundorf said they discovered maintenance tools, a fridge, a small amount of cash stolen from sea cans on the property on Tuesday morning. This came after it was discovered that on Sunday night someone had cut the locks to the campground but had not stolen anything, potentially returning to the site on Monday evening to commit the crime.
“It took us three years to build up that tool pile,” said Mundorf, adding that maintenance on the site will be affected this summer.
A potential fundraiser is being planned to replace the tools.
