Two people are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Drumheller on Saturday evening.
At about 5:30 p.m. on April 28, Drumheller RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a van. The license plate did not match, and police quickly determined the license plate had been stolen out of Three Hills.
Further investigation revealed drugs inside the vehicle in the possession of the male driver and female passenger.
The two occupants were arrested and 40-year-old Richard Patrick Bixby of Stettler and 31-year-old Nichole Raelene Hatt of Drumheller have both been charged with three counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine, carfentanil, and LSD).
Bixby faces an additional charge of possession of stolen property under $5000, and Hatt has also been charged with possession of a prohibited device (brass knuckles) as well as failing to comply with her probation order.
Both subjects were held for a judicial interim release. A Justice of the Peace released Bixby on a $1,500 no cash recognizance and released Hatt on a $2,500 no cash recognizance. Both scheduled to appear in provincial court in Drumheller on May 11th, 2018.
