The public is invited to the Drumheller Humane Society’s annual Spay-Ghetti Luncheon on February 10 from 11-3 at the Badlands Community Facility (BCF).
The yearly event will feature a photo booth with a photographer at the ready and a highschool student who will be testing out her face painting skills.
The society wants to spread awareness through the event.
“It’s just to kind of bring awareness to what we are doing,” explained Travis. “Lots of people don’t know about us and also just to cover costs like we’ve had a ton of bed costs and kennel costs and all kinds of things really. We’ve had a lot of animals that have been sick, so it’s a fundraiser but also to let people know we are out there and what we are doing and just give something for people to do on a weekend day.”
Ivy’s Awesome Kitchen & Bistro will be creating the food, catering to both ‘meatatarian’s’, vegetarians and vegans with their different style of spaghetti sauces.
A multitude of businesses have donated food, supplies, and couple of tables filled with silent auction items.
There’s a cake being donated from Athens Greek Restaurant. One was made a few years ago and it was so good [at the time.] A couple of the grocery stores are donating garlic bread [and] caesar salad. I think it’ll be a really good meal,” said Travis.
The event is open to all age groups but is especially aimed for children.
“Hopefully we have a good turnout, I think lots of kids and all ages like spaghetti,” Travis said.
