Aquaplex facing more delays

The Town of Drumheller regretfully announces that there will be a further delay to the opening of the Aquaplex and as a result the pool will not open until further notice.

While preparing the pool for the opening, staff noticed that there was a loss of water from the pool that could not be accounted for. Town staff along with the contractor’s staff worked over the weekend and throughout the day - today to locate the issue without success.

“The leak is significant enough that we cannot heat the water while maintaining the water level,” stated Darryl Drohomerski, CAO for the Town of Drumheller “this means we cannot keep the pool filled or warm enough for patrons to use.”

“Unfortunately until we locate, isolate and repair the link we cannot have a date for the pool opening; added Paul Salvatore, Director of Community Services, “once we have an idea of where the leak is, we will be able to give a more certain timeline for reopening the pool.”

The Town of Drumheller will extend Aquaplex memberships by the length of the closure.

“We recognize the inconvenience that the closure of the indoor pool causes regular users and we want to apologize for the delay,” said Drohomerski, “obviously, everyone involved in this project is extremely disappointed, but we are working as quickly as possible to correct the problem so that we can open as soon as possible.”
