Local man wins big in Kinsmen Home Lotto

A Drumheller man’s support for charity has landed him a new summer home.
Terry O’Connor-Browne was the third place grand prize winner in the Kinsmen Children’s Hospital Home Lotto. He won the Coyote Creek Resort Package. This includes a 2008 Chevrolet HHR LS and a Timber Ridge Park Home in the Coyote Creek Golf and RV Resort on the banks of the Red Deer River, about 130 kilometres north of Calgary.
“This is the first thing we have ever won, I was quite surprised,” said O’Connor-Browne.
He found out he won just last week, and has already taken possession of the home, and has visited his new summer cottage west of Sundre.
“It’s a beautiful unit,” he said.
He is still arranging picking up his new car.
The prize suits the retiree, as he owns an RV. He is unsure whether he will keep both.
“We have a trailer of our own, so we’ll try it for a while and see how it goes,” he said.
The prize package is estimated to have a value of $239,600.
O’Connor-Browne says every year they enter the Kinsmen Children’s Hospital Home Lotto. The contest supports the Alberta Children’s Hospital. This year the proceeds go towards funding a MEG (Magneto-encephalography) Scanner. This state of the art piece of technology helps in the diagnosis, treatment and research of illnesses like epilepsy, cancer and stroke.
The Kinsmen Children’s Hospital Home Lotto has been held for 15 years, and has raised in the area of $20 million.
