Residents and visitors tired of the rough and tumble road as they travel between McDonald’s and Husky on Highway 9 will soon be getting a respite.
Alberta Transportation will be undertaking resurfacing work on Highway 9 from 1st Street SW to 2nd Street SE next week.
Milling work (which is removing the current road surface) will take place on Tuesday, July 4 with paving taking place Wednesday and Thursday. There will be traffic restrictions during this time.
“There will be lane closures for the three days of work. This will involve the closures of either, east and west-bound lanes with a single lane, two-way traffic,” explained Darryl Drohomerski Director of Infrastructure at the Town of Drumheller. “This will allow the work to be completed more quickly and provide a higher degree of safety to work for crews.
“There will be flag people at each end of the work zone and at all intersections, with reduced speed,” added Julia Fielding Economic Development and Communications Officer for the Town of Drumheller. “We encourage people to drive carefully and be aware of the work crews.”
