15 local voting delegate will be representing the Drumheller-Stettler PC Constituency Association in March as the party selects its new leader.
Over 180 Alberta PC party faithful showed up last Thursday, January 19, at the Canalta Jurassic Inn, to elect voting delegates for the March leadership election in Calgary.
It was late into the evening after all those wishing to let their name stand had an opportunity to speak to the membership before they voted. Fifteen voting delegates will attend the leadership convention, and eleven were selected at the meeting. The other four are automatically named delegates, being constituency executive members.
The four from the executive are Barrie Hoover, David McKinstry, David Mohl and Michele Toews. The Adult at Large members include Todd Pawsey, Brad Mappin, Nate Horner, Don Gertner, Joe Gendre, James Marshall, Lorne Murfitt, Jim Ness and Mark Nikota. Youth delegates are Gerene Cole, Cole Viste and Waycee Hellekson.
These results are not official until confirmed by the party.
Many Conservative members travelled from a long way to participate in the delegate selection process for the Drumheller-Stettler constituency.
"Jason Kenney is the one and only candidate that said Albertans have to unite and Albertans have a lot of work to do and that's where we are going," said Drumheller businessman John Satink, who has put his name in to be a delegate.
Diana Rowe is also in the running to be a delegate and says it appears the membership wants change.
“There is really a loud voice for uniting the PCs,”she said. “And we have to have a strong look at that and listen to what the membership is telling us.”
