One of the Dragons’ best and brightest of all time returned to the valley to take in a game and to visit some familiar faces.
Kevin Bui is the Drumheller Dragons’ all-time points leader. In his three seasons, he amassed 146 points. He went on to play at Quinnipiac University and graduated with a master’s degree in entrepreneurship.
Far from the Drumheller Memorial Arena, New York City is now home.
“I work for a mobile agency called Prolific Interactive - We build mobile apps and have worked with companies such as American Express, Lululemon, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc. I am the head of partnerships there,” he tells The Mail.
He flew in to see the Dragons’ final game before the Christmas break and it obviously stirred up some emotions.
“It was an amazing feeling to come back to the Drumheller Memorial Arena. This is where my hockey journey began and it gave me so much opportunity in my present life,” he said. “Without Drumheller, there would have been no Quinnipiac and no New York City. It’s great to come back and see all the familiar faces that have supported me during my time in the valley.”
While he was in Drumheller, Bui was involved in the community, and he still has the spirit of wanting to give back. “I was able to meet with Coach Curran and Bradley Stonnell. I told coach that I wanted to help out in any way to help move some of these kids forward. I want to give back to the Dragons program as much as I can. I spoke with Bradley and got to learn about him as a person and the type of hockey player he is. He told me about his ambitions to play in the NCAA and I said I was going to make some introductions for him.”
While he is not directly involved in sports in his career today, he sees the value of his time playing hockey.
“Sports has always been a big part of my life and it had given me so much opportunity in life. Some of the best people I have met in my life is a direct result of sports. It’s nice to reflect on my legacy in Drumheller because I know I was able to bring so much joy, excitement, and happiness to this town through my hard work and talent on the ice. At the end of the day, the stats and numbers are the by-product of the influence the people of Drumheller had on me.”
