The Town of Drumheller and the Badlands Community Facility are inviting people to celebrate the magic of the holiday season and the spirit of giving with them. Between December 2 and December 15 the Badlands Community Facility will be decking its halls with beautiful Christmas trees, turning the community facility into a magical Christmas dreamland.
Businesses, community organizations and families are invited to donate and decorate an artificial Christmas tree which will be displayed in the Trail of Trees at the Badlands Community Facility. The trees will be later donated to a family who might not be able to afford a tree of their own. The event will be launched on Friday, December 2, with a fun community event with people checking out the trees, creating decorations for the BCF tree, and hot chocolate and cookies.
“We really wanted to celebrate the holiday season at the BCF with a fun Christmas event which also supports our community” stated Darren Goldthorpe Manager of Recreation, Arts, and Culture. “I can’t wait to see all the creations as we get into the Christmas spirit.”
“We are really excited with this new initiative”, continued Julia Fielding, Economic Development and Communications Officer, “and if people can’t afford a whole tree they should feel free to group together with friends and remember homemade decorations work as well as bought ones!”
