Grace Lutheran Church is planning to fill some bellies and a basket of donations to support Habitat for Humanity’s local effort to construct homes in the valley.
The church is planning a pig roast coming up on Saturday, October 22. Grace Lutheran Church is sponsoring the event as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.
Member of the church, Lloyd Huber, explains there will be a representative of Habitat for Humanity Drumheller and District at the event.
“They will be present to share their vision and the project they have in mind for Drumheller,” said Huber. “All are welcome to join us for the meal and help meet an important need in our community.”
Habitat for Humanity Drumheller and District formed earlier this spring. It has secured a parcel of land donated by Albert Clark, and is about halfway to their $250,000 fundraising goal. They hope to break ground for a duplex in North Drumheller in the new year.
Huber says the event reflects the church’s community dedication.
“As a congregation, we look for opportunities to meet needs in the community,” he said. Recently the church provided shoes to students in need for back to school, and also directed funds towards DVSS to support students.
“It’s an attempt to be active and of service in the community,” said Huber.
The pig roast will be held Saturday, October 22, at Grace Lutheran Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free, and there will be a basket for a free will offering for Habitat for Humanity.
