According to Drumheller Fire Department Chief Bruce Wade, quick action by the Drumheller Health Centre staff, damage was kept to a minimum.
"A fan being used to cool equipment in the dialysis treatment area over heated. Staff on duty were able to quell the fire with fire extinguishers," Chief Wade told The Mail.
The fire department responded to the call with two trucks and 9 firefighters and cleared the area of smoke from the small fire.
Other department members were asked to stand down at the Fire Hall.
The hospital was released from lockdown late Wednesday evening, June 29.
