In light of a disruption of postal service, The Drumheller Mail/inSide Drumheller is making alternative arrangements for readers to receive their news in a timely fashion.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers are in a legal position to strike as of July 2, and there is a possibility workers could be locked out upon the expiration of this contract. The Drumheller Mail/ inSide Drumheller have made alternative arrangements to continue to bring news to readers.
“We have been through this same situation before, most recently in 2011 when workers began a rotating strike and then were locked out for about two weeks,” said Ossie Sheddy, editor and publisher of The Drumheller Mail/inSide Drumheller. “We understand how important it is for our readers and customers to have the newspapers distributed in a timely manner.”
If there is a disruption, it may affect delivery starting with the July 6 edition of The Mail. Along with the various distribution boxes throughout the community, subscribers will be able to pick up their newspapers free of charge at Riverside Value Drug Mart, Freson Bros, Extra Foods, the Drumheller Co-op and of course The Drumheller Mail office.
Out of town subscribers of The Drumheller Mail will be able to pick up their newspaper at the village offices in Carbon, Delia, Hussar, Munson, Morrin, Big Valley, Rockyford and Standard. The paper will also be available at Akokiniskway Gof Course in Rosebud and the Rumsey Library in Rumsey on Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m.
inSide Drumheller will continue to be available at newsstands throughout the valley.
