RV hitch pin came loose and fifth wheel takes off

rv accident

On January 28, at approximately 10:30 AM,  a truck and fifth wheel trailer traveling on Highway 575, in front of Drum Diesel, came apart. According to Mike (last name declined) owner of the RV, the fifth wheel pin didn’t lock on hitch correctly and the whole thing slid off the truck. According to Joe Shapcott, a witness to the accident and an employee of Drum Diesel, explained nobody  (other vehicles) was around when it happened.  A loader picked up the RV and hauled it into the Drum Diesel yard.  Traffic was rerouted for awhile and RCMP were in attendance.
Drum Diesel owner John Satink arranged for the fifth wheel to be setup in the yard, at no charge, until the owner can get it fixed.
