Rosebud Theatre has a special deal for patrons wishing to see the first two “Rosebud Presents” offerings of 2016, Wildwood Fire and Wingfield Unbound.
“Rosebud Presents,” an eclectic and entertaining series of live theatre performances, forums and concerts, was introduced in 2012 to give Rosebud patrons “something more” than the annual season of Opera House productions.
Artistic Director, Morris Ertman, calls Wildwood Fire and Wingfield Unbound “a wildly popular, wonderful winter warm-up to our exciting 2016 house line-up.
“In 2015, Wildwood Fire played at the BMO Studio Stage and sold out so quickly we could barely keep up adding performances. This story will surprise you! So, we’ve brought it back for one night only at the Opera House and added a sing-a-long of beloved Carter-Cash songs,” Artistic Director, Morris Ertman states. “And we always love welcoming Rod Beattie as Walt Wingfield and his many other Wingfield Farm characters. If you’ve never seen one of his shows, don’t miss Wingfield Unbound. Beattie is an amazing actor and storyteller.”
Wildwood Fire plays for one night only on February 13. June Carter Cash and her mother Maybelle Carter are set to play a concert in Rosebud, but Johnny has landed himself in the hospital. What’s a Carter girl to do when the show must go on? Come and hear June Carter Cash and her mother Maybelle Carter sing their way through the joys and the tears that come with loving the Man in Black. Prior to the performance, there will be a warm-up sing-a-long with The Dearhearts.
The four performances of Wingfield Unbound are set for March 17-19 and include a delicious buffet meal before the show. On his fourth season on the farm (and his first as a married man), Walt Wingfield tries to preserve the memory of the old rural community of Persephone Township by promoting the crumbling Hollyhock Mill as a museum site. But the locals say the mill is haunted. Undaunted by such superstitious fears, Walt sets out to prove to the neighbours that there’s nothing to this curse business - with near disastrous results.
