At just around midnight on the morning of January 8, Drumheller EMS and Drumheller Fire Department were called to a structure fire at 703 4th Street SW in Bankview.

Fire Chief Bruce Wade said the Department responded with about 15 firefighters, two pumps and their Fire Rescue Unit. The occupants of the home were safely evacuated.

Wade said one duplex was completely destroyed, while the others suffered smoke and water damage. Neither are habitable at this time.

According to sources familiar with the properties, there are 4 units to a structure and they are all two bedrooms with the living Room and Kitchen on the main floor and bedrooms and bathrooms in the basement.

“Everyone is evacuated out of the building and will stay that way until determining the cause and geting some electrical people in to look at hooking up the other units,” said Wade.

Century 21 PowerRealty.ca agents and staff are organizing furniture and clothing donations for those displaced by the fire. An account has been set up at ATB. Contact PowerRealy.ca at 403-823-2121, rent@2121.ca

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
