Residents to bare all for Aquaplex nude swim night

When the Drumheller Aquaplex opens after renovations are complete, there will be much, much more on display than a new filtration system, tiles, and lockers.
Ann Wade, manager of the swimming pool, said the Aquaplex will be introducing a clothing optional pool time every Thursday night. “Nude Thursdays” will allow Drumheller’s curious to venture into a realm previously unheard of in the community. “We’ve had quite a few requests since I took over as manager, and we are finally giving the consenting adults of Drumheller the freedom and security of swimming nude in a safe environment,” Wade told The Mail. Every Thursday night after the pool opens on April 27, adults aged 18 and older (no one is too old) are invited to participate in a judgement-free swimming time from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m., and Wade says she is open to the idea of adding more nights so residents may relax freely at the pool, if the initial demand is met. “We are hoping this will spark an interest in the people of Drumheller to come out and have fun, while keeping fit and healthy,” Wade said. Wade stressed that lifeguards will be careful to monitor the behavior of swimmers, hoping to minimize leering and eliminate any unwanted conduct. Spectators, of course, will not be allowed to take watch in the pool, but are invited to join in the fun. The water slide will also be closed during Nude Thursdays to eliminate any chance of injury. “I am really looking forward to this opportunity,” says Drumheller resident and Nude Thursday hopeful Robert Arnold. “It will give me a chance to feel free and confident with myself, without having to leave town to do so,” Arnold said, also mentioning he will be saving a bundle by not having to buy a swim suit this season. The Drumheller Aquaplex will be opening its doors, and so much more, on Monday, April 27. Nude Thursdays are scheduled to start April 30 at 9 p.m. until 11 p.m.
