Some local residents have started a book club in Drumheller.
The Drumheller Book Lovers will have their first meeting at the Drumheller Public Library on Wednesday, July 15.
The group, made up of several local residents who love to read, is reading ‘The Help’ by author Kathryn Stockett as their first book.
The story, set in the 1960’s, is about African-American maids who are working in white households in Jackson, Mississippi. The 2009 book was also adapted into a movie in 2011.
The group plans to meet from 6-8 p.m. to discuss their thoughts and opinions on the book as a round table discussion.
The library offers a service called a ‘book club in a box’, which allows a person to request the box with six copies of the book and a discussion sheet with questions.
The group chose from a list of books available in this box set to allow for members to not be waiting for books to arrive from outside of Drumheller, be put on a waiting list, or be forced to purchase the book.
Anyone wishing more information about the book club can find the group on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/Drumhellerbookloversclub.
Those wishing to join the group for their first meeting are encouraged to come to the library on July 15 ready to discuss the book.
