Drumheller singer songwriter Abby Fooks is getting ready to let her voice ring out again and will be heading to the coast to record her first album this summer.
inSide Drumheller reported in January, that Abby recorded her first Single Breakaway. The song went on to receive local radio play. On iTunes, it has received 28 ratings and 11 reviews, all favourable.
“It was pretty cool to hear it on the radio,” she tells the Mail. “I’m leaving in two weeks to go to Vancouver.
She explains that it is a collaborative effort with Mike James and Jeff Dawson who also produced Breakaway. She has been working hard and produced three songs, and in Vancouver, they have three ready. Breakaway will also be on the album.
“The have been sending me tracks of the music and it is sounding really good so far,” she said. “I have sent them demos of songs I have written, and they have helped with the lyrics to make sure the songs are the best they can be.”
She writes on the piano, but the crew in Vancouver takes the tracks to the next step adding the instrumentation. She says the songwriting is very personal to her.
“I have an idea, I’ll write it down and save it for alter. And then when I have time I’ll sit down at the keyboard and the ideas start flowing… and things come out,” she said.
She expects they will be in Vancouver for about a week. The studio pretty much has the tracks complete, and he jus need her to come and down and record the lyrics.
When complete she says the plan to make a hard copy of the CD to be made available and are planning to post it on iTunes.
