Strangers apprehend alleged thief at late night break-in

The owner of a family business in downtown Drumheller is grateful for the kindness of strangers who helped thwart a break-in and theft.
Dhirender Negi  and his wife are the new owners of the corner convenience store NN News formerly known as S&S News. Shortly after midnight on early Sunday morning, June 14, they received a call from their alarm company that there was activity in their store. Negi told dispatch it was not them, and asked them to summon the police.
The family lives above the store and when he looked out the window, he could see a group of people.
"I could see some people holding someone,  Negi tells the Mail.
When he came down he found that the window on the south side of his store had been smashed.
He also found that there was a small group of people gathered. They had apprehended a person who had allegedly broken into NN News.
"I was shocked that this happened," said Negi.
The police arrived shortly thereafter and took the person into custody.
Negi is very grateful for what happened. He said he recognized one of the people who helped apprehend the person as a regular customer, but does not know his name.
"The people here that were supporting me last night were awesome," said the new business owner. "I feel like I'm in the right place."
