George-kallay

A Drumheller man who has dedicated years to the development of hockey in the province is being inducted into the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame.
On Tuesday morning, February 24, Hockey Alberta and the Hockey Alberta Foundation announced their Hall of Fame Class of 2015. It includes George Kallay in the Builder Category.
“This is a special time of year for the AHHF Selection Committee – we have the opportunity to look over and remember the significant contributions to our sport in Alberta, Canada and beyond,” said Bob Clark, Chairman of the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee. “It’s our honour to recognize these inductees. Their legacies and accomplishments can now take their place in Alberta’s hockey history.”
Kallay is humbled by the award.
"What makes me proud is all the kids who benefitted from my service."
Kallay’s involvement in hockey spans more than two decades, and throughout that time he has been dedicated to player development in every role from player and parent to official from the minor hockey level all the way up to an executive member of Hockey Alberta, The Hockey Alberta Foundation and Hockey Canada.
He served as chair of the Hockey Alberta Foundation from 2005-2009 and the chair of the Hockey Canada Development Committee from 2005-2008.
For his work he was presented with the Hockey Alberta Development Award in 2005, the Hockey Alberta Centennial Award in 2007, the Hockey Alberta Volunteer of the Year in 2008 and the Alberta Cup 25th Anniversary Builders Award in 2011.
Kallay will be inducted this year at a ceremony in Canmore on July 25. Others to be induced this year include Hand Hills Lanny McDonald and the 1979-1980 Red Deer Rustlers.
