Drumheller RCMP are warning residents of a slick e-mail scam that making the rounds disguised as coming from Revenue Canada.
RCMP say a resident received an email from what was made to look like the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), advising they wanted to deposit money into this persons account.
The recipient was instructed in the email to click on a link which brought them to what appeared to be the Revenue Agency’s website, and asked for information such as mother’s maiden name, social insurance number, and credit card information.
RCMP advise Revenue Canada would not send any emails out for the purpose of depositing money into their accounts.
Police ask anyone receiving a similar email to not open the attachment nor provide any information, and to report  these frauds or any attempts  to the police.
Drumheller RCMP can be reached at (403) 823-7590.
