Debt Clock Tour rolls through Drumheller

Tuesday, July 15, the Drumheller Valley was visited by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF), a lobby group campaigning for a debt-free Alberta. The Debt Clock, towed behind the group’s brand new Ford F-150, represents the how for every second, minute and hour that passes, Alberta’s debt increases by a certain amount. The Alberta Debt Clock tour will make an appearance in 25 different communities across the province and urge local MLAs to take the “Balanced Budget and Debt Free Alberta Pledge.”  When asked upon the programs plans put in place for a sustainable economic future for Albertans, Derek Fildebrant, Alberta Director of the CTF, offered no solutions, but instead, explained what debt meant to him. “Debt is like going to a really awesome party,” Fildebrant divulged, “it’s fun, but you’re going to pay for it in the morning. The Alberta Debt Clock Tour’s next stop after Drumheller is the Town of Lacombe.
