One of the best parts of the Rosebud Theatre experience is now available ‘to go.’ The holiday music treasury, A Rosebud Christmas, features the vocal and instrumental talents of Rosebud Centre of the Arts actors, students, staff and alumni and funds raised will go to support Rosebud School of the Arts.
“Live dinner music and beautiful harmonies have always filled the air at the Mercantile dining room,” says Adam Furfaro, Executive Director of RCA. “Now our patrons can finally take this special part of the Rosebud experience home with them.
“So many people have told us we should record a Christmas album, and this year, with the help of an amazing benefactor, we had the resources to bring it to fruition,” Furfaro continues. “Many people don’t know that RSA is a not-for-profit charitable organization. The net proceeds from the sale of this album will directly support the work we do here in the school and in the theatre. So buy a copy—or ten—and share this wonderful music with everyone on your list.”
Producer and recording engineer Paul Zacharias says the song selection ranges from traditional to contemporary, with arrangements that make old favourites feel new again.
“Rosebud’s greatest natural resource is talent,” he says. “These musicians gave their gifts in support of RSA—much like the Little Drummer Boy did. It’s so great to have captured these amazing performances for our Rosebud patrons and supporters to enjoy for years to come.”
Tracks on the recording include Silver Bells, sung by Rosebud’s Anne of Green Gables, Cassia Schramm; I Wonder as I Wander performed by Lewis Frere of the folk duo Lewis & Royal; Christmas Island featuring Rosebud School of the Arts students Alix Cowman (vocals, ukulele and kazoo) and Lauren de Graaf (vocals and whistling); and Baby It’s Cold Outside sung by Zacharias and his wife Heather, performing as the duo Me & the Mrs.
