RCMP advise residents to lock car doors

RCMP are advising residents to be diligent about locking their car doors after a string of thefts from vehicles in Drumheller.

During the nights of July 24 and 25, several unlocked vehicles were entered and gone through within Drumheller.

The culprits appear to be looking for valuables and money.  Vehicles that were entered were parked on the road and on driveways associated to houses.

“Lock your cars and pocket the keys. Take any valuables out of sight at least,” advised Drumheller RCMP Staff Sergeant Art Hopkins. “So far, it’s money and small valuables that have been taken.”

At present, the two main areas effected have been Nacmine and 1st Avenue South.

Residents are also being asked to report any suspicious activity. Proactive residents can help keep everyone safe from these thefts.

“This type of crime can happen anywhere.  I would ask residents to keep their eyes open for suspicious youths in their area.  Should anyone have information associated to these activities, please call Drumheller RCMP,” said Hopkins. “If you see something strange, give us a call.”

The Drumheller RCMP can be reached 403-823-7590.
