While it wasn’t designed specifically as a tourist attraction, many visitors to the Valley are taking advantage of the Badlands Community Facility.
Guy Latour, business manager at the Badlands Community Facility said while he has learned the Community Facility seems a little slower during the summer months as people take holidays, he is noticing a number of non-residents using the facility.
“We tend to see people who are coming to the valley to stay the summer, and they are taking out month passes or books of passes,” said Latour.
He adds there is also day-to-day traffic of non-residents coming to discover the facility. He sees traffic peak on rainy days or on extremely hot days, as visitors look to escape the elements and do something constructive.
Beyond tourism traffic he says the facility remains busy with the Summer Fun Program, adding 35-40 youngsters a week using the facility. Bookings also remain strong through the facility’s first wedding and reunion season.
