An open house is being held this Monday at the Rosebud Mercantile to discuss the Rosebud River Ridge Concept plan.
The Rosebud River Ridge Concept plan is a proposed residential development on the north side of the hamlet overlooking the Rosebud River. According to planner Pat Maloney, the development will have 22 residential lots with a private lot and storage area.
“It will increase public park space by many acres and access to the river as well,” said Maloney.
She said they have gone with Hamlet zoning which allows for single family homes, duplexes and policies are in place to allow owners to create secondary suites to potentially create more student housing or more home based offices.
Jason Knibb, who is part of the development, says residential housing is sorely needed in the hamlet.
“We have been working hand in hand with the county on this for a couple years now and one of the things that was identified through the process was the need for residential lots. Currently there are none in Rosebud,” said Knibb. “There are no places to rent or buy in Rosebud. This is going to open up opportunities for more people to live in Rosebud.”
He said the priority is to have residential lots for people who are already commuting to Rosebud for employment.
The open house is on Monday, June 11 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the upstairs conference room at the Rosebud Mercantile. The purpose of the event is to present the proposed development to the public and answer any questions.
