Inmate gets 30 days for assaulting officer

    A serving inmate at the Drumheller Institution had 30 days added on to his sentenced after a run–in with a corrections officer.
 Travis Huynh appeared in provincial court in Drumheller. Pleaded guilty to assaulting a peace officer.
    The court heard how on July 29, 2011, Huynh appeared to be upset after being refused a recreation pass, and approached a corrections officer. He was told to return to his cell. It was then Huynh “chest bumped” the officer, leading to his charge.
    Huynh is serving a two-year sentence for drug  related charges. He had an additional 30 days added to his sentence to be served consecutively.
