While it is more than a year away, the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to hosting the province in 2013.
Last week the Chamber made good on its fundraising pledge for the Badlands Community Facility. They are looking forward to utilizing the facility to its fullest extent hosting the 2013 Alberta Chamber of Commerce Provincial Conference and Policy Session.
“The facility is going to be a wonderful enhancement to the Drumheller valley and really good for business,” said Chamber board vice president John Shoff. “I think it is going to open a lot of doors to a lot of opportunities to hold larger events.”
One of the events is the 2013 conference.
He explains they made a bid for the 2012 conference, but there were concerns as to whether the facility would be completed. The next year they got the nod.
“This gives a year for planning and we know the facility will be up and running strong by this time,” said Shoff.
The AGM is slated for May 16-18, 2013 and will attract more that 200 delegates as well as possibly family members. While there will be the formal business of the event, the delegates will also get a chance to see all the valley has to offer.
“We usually put on a community related package, so you will have the AGM related meetings, but there will also be community events to showcase the valley,” said Shoff.
“In our discussion we found the hardest part of planning the AGM is going to be narrowing down all the different things we can show people. There are just so many things we can do.”
Delegates will get a sneak peak of what to expect at the 2013 AGM at this coming year’s conference in Spruce Grove. The Drumheller Chamber will be sponsoring a breakfast, providing attendees with an idea of what they could expect.
