Rumsey Ride tops half million dollar mark

The Rumsey Ride reached its goal of topping a half million dollars, and were visited by a STARS helicopter.

The 22nd annual ride at the Bar TL Ranch went on Sunday, August 7. This ride is the longest running STARS Air Ambulance fundraiser. Following this year’s event it has raised $508,383.11.
Jacqui Goddard, one of the organizers, said this was a feat especially in the poor weather, which cut into participation. Last year riders brought in $29,288.90 with 140 riders. This year the riders raised $23,116 with only 65 riders.
“It is quite an accomplishment,” she said.
To celebrate reaching this milestone, Mike Potter, base manager at STARS Air Ambulance flew one of the STARS crafts to the ride. He and his daughter Natasha then proceeded to participate in the ride.
In fact, Natasha turned in the highest pledge total in the junior riders and was rewarded with a belt buckle from Kanyon View Ranch.
“Mike (Potter) said ‘It’s not every day you get to ride in a helicopter to ride in a trail ride,’” chuckles Goddard.
