Who Are You? Jamie Mahan

Occupation: Teacher, St. Luke’s Outreach.
What do you like most about your job? I always like motivating students so they see beyond what they are now to what they can become.
Where are you from originally? Louisbourg on Cape Breton.
How long have you been in Drumheller? Since late July. I drove to Alberta in January to get a teaching job.
What do you like most about Drumheller? The small town atmosphere and cool attractions.
Any travel destinations on your bucket list? Holland, Fiji, Scotland, and back to Italy. I have a bit of a wanderlust.
What’s the coolest place you’ve been to? I went to Italy with my high school. It’s such a cool place historically and culturally.
When and where would you travel to in time? To see Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and the rest. Seeing them at a festival would be so inspiring.
Any hobbies? Guitar, reading, art, staying fit, and travelling.
What do you play on guitar? Rock, blues, classical, and a whole bunch of other styles.
Favourite bands: Led Zeppelin, Guns n’  Roses, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, and U2 are some. First thing I learned was “Stairway to Heaven,” then I was on a huge Hendrix kick for awhile after that.
What would be your theme song? “Danger Zone,” from Top Gun. It always pumps me up.
Any words of wisdom? It’s an Arnold Schwarzenegger quote, “you can’t climb the ladder of success with your hands in your pockets.”
