Starland officially opens new office

Starland Reeve Barrie Hoover helps Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock MLA Maureen Kubinec cut the ribbon at the grand opening of Starland County’s administration office Thursday afternoon, August 2. They are flanked by (l-r) Staff Sergeant Art Hopkins, councillors Norm Stanger and Murray Marshall, RCMP Constable Mark Amatto, and councillors Allen Avramenko and Bob Sargent. The renovation nearly doubled the size of the office, and brought many efficiencies, including a solar array which has cut the office’s utilities in half. The federal government supported the project with a $ 463,000 grant. The provincial government contributed  $1.4 million from the Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI).
