Masons host “our Partners Party”

Masons in the Drumheller area took time out to honour the widows of many of their members at their annual “our Partners Party" last Saturday.

It was a gala event for the Symbol Lodge and Drumheller Lodge 146 hosted the annual event. This year there were 18 eligible women invited and 14 replied to attend.

In the spirit of the evening each was picked up from their home, given a corsage, and an escort accompanied them to the lodge.

At the party they enjoyed a wine and cheese reception followed by dinner and were entertained by the vocal trio Triple Play. The evening concluded with a gift, a photo with their escort and a trip home.

Mason Doug Wade said it was a grand evening and among the notable guests was Helen Paterson, the widow of Jack Paterson.

Paterson was a Staff Sergeant in the Drumheller area about three decades ago. When he retired he and his wife went on to own the convenience store at Tunnel Mountain in Banff.

Current Staff Sergeant and mason Art Hopkins escorted Mrs. Paterson.

”It is a treasure we enjoy doing every year,” said Wade.
