Stampeder quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell will be coming to Drumheller this Saturday to act as guest coach for the Drumheller Terrapins. Game time: 11 a.m.

The Drumheller Terrapins will be led by CFL greatness this Saturday as the Calgary Stampeders come to visit during their home game.
Stampeder quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell will be a guest coach for the Terrapins, and he is not alone. Ralph the Dog, the mascot of the Calgary Stampeders, will be there to spread some cheer to the organization. Coach Cory Miles is excited at the development.
‘"It is going to be great,” said Miles adding that when he learned the guest coach was the team’s starting quarterback, he was even more impressed.
According to Jean Lefebvre, director of communications for the Stampeders, the two organizations built a relationship earlier this year when the Titans enjoyed a day with members of the team.
"When this unfortunate incident happened, we heard about it and were trying to figure out the best thing we could do,” he said.
It turned out the Stampeders’ by-week coincided with this Saturday’s game.
“It matched up, and Bo felt really strongly about going himself, so he is going to be the guest coach,” said Lefebvre.
He adds they are looking forward to the enthusiasm the team showed when the Stampeders visited the Drumheller football teams earlier this year.
“We were blown away by how receptive the community was when we went up there… it is a community we remember very well and it is an opportunity to give back.”
Mitchell has been having a strong season, dressing for 13 games and starting in 11. He became the first quarterback in CFL history to win 12 of his first 13 starts.
This Saturday the Terrapins will be taking on Sylvan Lake at 11 a.m. at DVSS Field.

The Dragons performed well at the AJHL Showcase in Spruce Grove, coming away with three out of a possible four points.
The AJHL Showcase weekend, a chance for fans and scouts to get their fill of AJHL action all in one place as all 16 teams in the league headed to Spruce Grove to show off their talents.
On Thursday night, the Dragons played the home team Saints and found themselves behind the eight ball. The teams played to a draw in the first period, but in the second Spruce Grove outshot the Dragons 17-5 and carried a two-goal lead into the third period.
The Dragons woke up as Jacob Schofield scored short-handed from Hunter Mills, and then Ethan James found the net unassisted to tie the game, forcing overtime.
At the four-minute mark, Dakota Zaharichuk scored the winner from Mitchell Cook.
On Friday night the Dragons had another look at a Northern Division team as they played the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
Bonnyville came out strong scoring less than two minutes in. But Rory Davidson tied it, assisted by Chad Harrison to end the first period.
The team played to a draw in the second period, but just 1:38 into the third, the Pontiacs capitalized on a powerplay. Back and forth it went as Tristan Thompson, assisted by Hunter Mills and Wyatt Noskey tied it again.
The Pontiacs jumped ahead, but this time Cody Fiala scored his second of the regular season, assisted by Noskey, to force overtime. This time the Dragons were on the losing end of the overtime battle.

The St. Anthony’s Sabres Senior girl’s soccer team showed poise in their first game of the season hosting Strathmore Wednesday afternoon.
The team has been together for the last few years and this season has moved up to the senior high level. Other schools have more established programs and it showed as Strathmore jumped out to a big lead early.
Strathmore quickly put up seven goals in early, before Brooklyn Davies scored on a penalty kick to make the score 7-1 at the half.
“At half time I told the girls, I really don’t care about the score,” said coach Gavin Makse. “All we want to do is win the second half.”
He said there were a few simple adjustments they needed to make  to get them back in the game.
“They were older and bigger than us and we maybe were a little bit intimidated because they were beating us to every ball. But I knew we had more speed, so I challenged them to win every ball,” said Makse.
It worked, as the Sabres scored three to Strathmore’s one to win the second half. Davies had a hat trick and Kayla Finkbiner scored. Final score, 8-4.
The game was a good warm up for the fifth annual Sabres Invitational tournament this coming Friday, September 26. The Sabres will be hosting Notre Dame, Cochrane and Strathmore.
Coach Makse says last season they were able to beat Notre Dame once, and Cochrane has always had a strong program. He is looking forward to playing Strathmore.
“Our goal is to beat them. Our girls got enough confidence out of this game today that we could do that,” said Makse.
St. Anthony’s first take to the field at 9 a.m. versus Strathmore, noon versus Cochrane and 3 p.m. versus Notre Dame in the round robin tournament.
