Drumheller will be hosting the Bantam B Provincial Championships this year from March 17 to 20 at the Drumheller Memorial and Hussar arenas.
Hockey fans will have the opportunity to watch the Drumheller Western Chev Bantam Raptors pursue the 2016 Bantam B Championship.
The majority of teams competing in minor Provincial Championship tournaments qualify by winning a zone playdown. Playdowns start in mid-January across the province with up to 1,000 teams vying for the right to represent their zone in the provincial championships.
Host teams receive an automatic berth in championship although they still participate in zone playdowns and have the opportunity to win their zone title.

There are thousands of people across the province, who are involved in ensuring the participants have memories that last a lifetime.
On January 15 and 16, St. Anthony’s Jr. B Boys and Jr. B. Girls hosted an Invitational Basketball Tournament. Teams from Three Hills, Bassano, Duchess and Trochu attended. The format style was a four team round-robin with three games for each team.
On Friday January 15, St. Anthony’s Jr. B. Boys defeated three of the visiting teams. The scores were 40-9 against Standard, 46-11 against Bassano and 12-11 against Duchess.
The St. Anthony’s Jr. B. Girls played on Saturday January 16 with their first match up was against Three Hills losing 44-12. The second and third games were also losses, with scores 14-4 for Bassano and 30-8 for Trochu.
The final winner of the Jr. B. Boys was St. Anthony’s Jr. B Boys and Three Hills won the Jr. B. Girls Invitational.
