Battle of the Sexes healthy competition starts February 1

    For the month of February, it will be the Battle of the Sexes healthy competition at the Aquaplex and the Badlands Community Facility (BCF).
    Program Specialist Brandon Schneider explained, “February is Heart and Stroke Month, so this is a healthy competition between the sexes, especially for senior citizens.   A group of seniors are part of the Golden Mile Walk at BCF and many of them join this competition if only for the bragging rights.
    Schneider further explained, “The BCF is trying to get more businesses interested in this healthy competition and has been encouraging fast food industries, dealerships, etc.  To  enter this fun challenge. ”  
    The contest runs from February 1-14 at the Aquaplex, and February 15-28 at the BCF.
    To enter the Battle of the Sexes, participants must do the required minimum distance. Once maximum is reached, the participant cannot enter anymore distances on the tracking sheet.
    Participants who achieve and track the minimum distance will be entered into a draw for a three month Aquaplex/BCF pass - one for the men and one for the ladies
    Participants who achieve and track the maximum distance will be entered to win a six month multi-facility pass - one for the men and one for the ladies.

The Lions Club of Drumheller showed its support for Youth Bowling in the Valley and donated $500 to the club to support its program. Lions Club member Kat Mundorf, right, presents the cheque to YBC coach Karen Tanke and members of the bowling program.
