Injuries slow Dynos at Superman tourney

The DVSS Dynos Senior boys played well at this year’s Superman Tournament in Three Hills, but injuries contributed to a tough weekend for the team.
The Superman Tournament, played January 29-30, is one of the premiere events in the basketball calendar, drawing on some of the best talent in the province. DVSS has been invited for a number of years.
The Dynos began tournament play versus J.R. Robson. The Dynos were leading in the fourth quarter, but lost one of their starters to an injury. They fell 77-60.
In their second game on Friday, they faced Prairie Christian Academy and again lost another starter to an injury early on. Depleted, they fell 54-48.
Their final games were against the host Three Hills and again they played well but lost 60-49.
Coach Messom said the injuries, while not endemic, did take a toll last weekend.
“We were unable to get any offensive flow going after that,” he said.
He has seen some improvement as the season continues.
“We are seeing some improvement on the defensive end of the floor, but still having issues on offense and finishing off in the 4th quarter and closing games, as we had a lead in the 4th on all three teams,” he said.
The Dynos have a bye this week in league play and then head to Strathmore February 12-13, for tournament play.
