The Ryan Savory Fishing Derby well attended

Michichi Fishing Derby 2017 Starland County

The Starland County annual Fishing Derby brought many to the Michichi Reservoir on Saturday, August 26, in Michichi, The catch with a weight closest to 1 lb 2.0 oz wins a Shimano Rod and Reel. The reason for the specific weight was in memory of Ryan Savary as that was his biggest catch at the dam. Although no one was lucky enough to lure one in, a prize draw for the big prizes was put in place.

Duclos takes win at Dirt Nationals

Modified race cars tore up the track at the Dinosaur Downs Speedway on Sunday, August 27, in Drumheller. Jason Duclos, number 46, reigned champion, winning the $11,750 pool prize. Garth Duchanek, number 56D, placed second with Brian Roode, number 68, coming in third.

Swallow is an 8-peat!

Two days of great golf weather led to a successful open tournament at the Dinosaur Trail Golf course this past weekend.

Both the Ladies and Men’s tournaments were held, and Kyle Wade emerged as the low gross winner and course superintendent Colin Mckenzie won low net honours.

On the Women’s side, Heather Swallow came out on top as low gross winner and Joanne Schinnour emerged as low net winner. Swallow was presented with the Barb Losoncy plaque as tournament winner once again, having won it for the eighth time.

Bink Losoncy presented Heather Swallow with the Barb Losoncy Memorial Plaque, as winner of the Ladies golf tournament at Dinosaur Trail this past weekend. This is the eighth time Heather has won the event, and the twentieth year the plaque has been presented since Barb’s passing.
