The Drumheller Dragons are very pleased to announce that forward Tyler Kreklewich has committed to attend the University of Regina in the Fall of 2018. The Regina Cougars play out of Canada West in the U Sports competing against teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Kreklewich was acquired in a trade during the 2016/17 season from his hometown Melville Millionaires. Known for his explosive speed and creative skills, the 6’0 – 170 lbs center was able to contribute 74 points in 95 regular season games as a member of the Dragons. This was highlighted by his 7 points in 10 playoff games last season, which included 5 goals.

Dragons Head Coach Kevin Hasselberg commented, “Tyler was a player with the ability to gets fans out of their seats with his effortless speed. He was never fearful of attacking multiple defenders, splitting defense, and scoring highlight reel goals. More importantly, Tyler was a vocal leader in the dressing room who brought enthusiasm, charisma, and passion for the game.”

"I'm real excited about the group of guys we've got coming in," Head Coach of Regina Cougars Todd Johnson said. "We've been able to add seven guys with significant experience in the WHL and some real quality players that put up some impressive numbers at the Junior A level. We're looking forward to getting these guys on the ice with our returning players in just a couple of weeks."

The entire Drumheller Dragons organization would like to congratulate Tyler on his accomplishment of moving onto the University of Regina. We would like to thank him and his family for their dedication and leadership the past two seasons.

The Drumheller Titans football organization needs more players to join practice ahead of their first exhibition this weekend.

The senior Titans held their first practice on Friday, August 17 and did not have enough players attend to field a team. They are practicing from Monday to Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in preparation of Saturday's game.

Head coach Ken Fournier says it’s due to summer vacation, and while he expects more players closer to the school year, the scheduling of their first game this weekend has put them in a tough spot.

“We need more bodies. On paper we have lots of kids, but they need to show up.” he said.

Eligibility requirements are only that players be in Grades 10-12. Any students area schools or homeschooled can join the club as long as their school does not have a team. In the past, they’ve had players from Hussar, Standard, and Three Hills. Registration feeds cover all expenses including insurance, equipment, and travel.

“Footballs for every size and shape and there’s a spot for everybody,” Fournier said.

The Titans regularly practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. once the school year starts.
