The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Board of Governors has approved a regular season start date of Friday, November 13, 2020.
Teams will play within a divisional format composed of a South Division and a North Division. A decision on the Annual AJHL Showcase, season end date, and playoff format will be announced at a later date.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League is operating under the Government of Alberta’s Junior, Collegiate and University League Guidance, developed to support leagues in returning to play and reducing the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
The AJHL Regular Season protocols are in alignment with Hockey Canada’s Return to Hockey Safety Guidelines and Hockey Alberta’s Return to Hockey Plan in focusing on the safety and wellbeing of all participants and spectators.
Arena capacity limits, social distancing protocols within the facility, and the ticket sales process will be dictated by the regulations within each community and the respective team. No League Passes will be accepted for entry, including all AJHL and CJHL accreditation, until facility capacity limits are significantly increased.
The 2020-21 AJHL Regular Season will be broadcast on HockeyTV.com - Annual Passes are now available to AJHL fans at an $80-discount through each team.
The 2020 AJHL Exhibition Season will continue through to Sunday, November 8. A complete League schedule will be posted at AJHL.ca when finalized.

The Dragons were back in exhibition action last weekend, taking on the Calgary Canucks in a two-game series.
On Friday, October 30, the Dragons were at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary to take on the Canucks. The Dragons came out strong, and less than eight minutes into the game, Grayson Dietrich put the Dragons up. Just seven minutes later, Aiden Yakimchuk found the net again. The Canucks answered back to end the period with a 2-1 score.
The Dragons outshot the Canucks 20-9 in the second period and added to their lead with goals from Sam Simard and Kent Anderson. The Canucks closed the gap making it 4-2 with 53 seconds left in the game, but Logan Radmanovich put it out of reach with 11 seconds left. Final score: 5-2 for the Dragons.
On Saturday, October 31, the Dragons hosted the Canucks at the Dragons Den. This time the Canucks got the jump going up by two goals in less than six minutes in. Carter Belitski put the Dragons on the scoreboard but ended the period trailing 2-1. The Dragons were able to take the lead in the second period with goals from Peyton McKenzie and then Simard.
Belitizki scored his second of the game to put the Dragons up 4-2 early in the third period, but the Canucks came back and tied it up, forcing overtime. Just 33 seconds into extra time, Tyson Gross picked up a poorly timed penalty for boarding. The Canucks had a 4-3 advantage and 23 seconds later scored the winner.
Last week the AJHL announced the beginning of the regular season. Before that, the Dragons will be hosting the Bandits this Friday, November 7, and then heading to Brooks to wrap up the exhibition season.

Titans battle Tigers in Leduc

Titans VS Tigers

The Senior Titans were back in action on Friday, October 23, on the road in Leduc to play in a scrimmage style game.
A scrimmage style game means there would be no special teams play. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Titans came out on the losing end.
“It was snowy and a lot of inexperience. We are a small team, and we didn’t execute well,” said head coach Ken Fournier.
Despite this, it was a good experience for the burgeoning team.
“We rotated lots, we wanted to see who we had in those positions. We would take guys and try them in different spots,” said Fournier. “It was nice to see what we have as we start working toward the spring.”
He said there were some bright spots.
“Some of the players stepping into new roles were making big plays,” he said.
Currently, there are tentative plans to move the season to the spring based on public health measures.
“We are looking towards spring, we are hoping that everything goes. We will play in the spring regardless, but whether that is playing into provincials or playing in a league that will be decided here soon,” said Fournier.
The Titans are planning to host the Leduc Tigers this coming week however, they are not sure whether they will play at home or schedule it in Calgary due to turf conditions.
