St As sabre jv boys

On Thursday January 28, St. Anthony’s hosted Beiseker School to a basketball competition. Coach Joey Browning:
“The Final Score was 73-18 in favor of the Sabres. The team played great,I feel as though this game was when they started to really come together and fully understand what I had been coaching. They showed great aggressiveness on defense and our offense looked smooth and in-sync. I couldn’t have asked for a better game.”
Coach Browning further said “Ben Masson was my star of the game. He finally came out of his shell, and started to attack the hoop more and showed some grit on defense. It was a great win for the boys and I look forward to continuing this newly found cohesion on Tuesday, when we play Airdrie.”

St. Anthony’s annual alumni game date set

alumni

St. Anthony’s Sabres and Saints from bygone eras will be back on the court come Friday, February 12.
The school is hosting its sixth annual Alumni games. This will put the school’s current team up against teams made up of former players. The girls are on the court at 6 p.m., and the boys at 7:30 p.m.
The alumni game is a great opportunity for young players to meet some of the hoopsters who have come before, and learn more about the game and traditions.  Some of the former players have gone on to play at the college level.
It also makes for some great basketball.

This year some of the alumni players will get a chance to see if the can squeeze into their old uniforms.
Coach Gavin Makse explains that this year they have purchased new uniforms for the senior teams, and to help cover the expense, they are auctioning off the old uniforms, shorts and jerseys, to former players. Bidding has already started and there is a lot of interest.
