Carbon curling champ receives All Star award at Canadian Junior Curling Championships

Team Chyz is back, more determined than ever, from the 2010 M & M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships, which took place in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec on January 16-24.
The team, which includes Carbon resident, Rebecca Pattison, played well and ended up tied 4th out of the 13 women’s teams, with 8 wins to 4 losses.

Dynos remain undefeated with tournament, league wins

    The DCHS senior boys basketball supremacy at the 2A level of basketball continues, as does their perfect record, following a tournament in Hanna.
    The Dynos competed at the 12-team tournament on February 8 and 9 in Hanna.
    In the first game the Dynos defeated Eckville 102 to 29 led by Gavin Pittman’s 20 points.

Atom Yavis Raptors split pair on weekend

    The Raptors started their weekend at home where the visiting Okotoks A team were the opponents.
    The Raptors again came out flying as they were chasing pucks and beating the visitors to the corners. The team was looking to score first and set the tone.
    With five minutes left in the period the Raptors appeared to score as the Sniper pushed a loose puck in. Unfortunately, a tiny whistle was blown and the play called back. With two minutes left Okotoks took the puck the opposite way, crashed the net and found the rebound to lead 1-0 after the first period.
