The Dragons have fortified their defensive line by signing Austin Osiowy for the coming season.
Osiowy is an 18-year-old Calgary prospect who is playing this season with the U18 Calgary North Stars AAA team. He is excited to make the jump to Junior A. He played three games with the Okotoks Oilers this season.
“I am so excited, the town is amazing, I went to a game, and the atmosphere was awesome. I am so glad to be here. For me, (Drumheller) is a great place for me to grow as a player and a person. The coaching staff, I have heard great things from.”
He looks forward to being a part of the community beyond hockey.
While he is a defenseman, he likes to contribute however he can.
“I am a 200-foot defenseman. I contribute offensively, but I am also very good defensively. I move pucks up and feed the transition very well,” he said. “If you need a guy to kill a penalty or block a shot, I can do that. If you need a guy to put pucks on the net and create an offence opportunity, I can do that too. Hockey is a 200-foot game, and if you only play certain parts of it, you are not going to go far.”
His goal is to jump to NCAA hockey and keep playing as long as he can.

The Dragons are solidly in fourth place in the AJHL Viterra South Divison as they head into the final week of the regular season.
Fans are getting ready for playoff action, and there has been no pause in the competitiveness of play as teams jockey for position. More than 900 came out last Friday, February 24 to watch the Dragons take on the Canmore Eagles.
After a scoreless first period, Vann Yuhas put the Dragons on the scoreboard on the powerplay, assisted by Adrian Easton. Canmore answered back six minutes later to end the second period in a tie.
It was a game decided on special teams and Canmore scored two powerplay goals to go up 3-1. With less than two minutes left, Adam Raesler scored on the powerplay to bring it closer, and despite pressure down the stretch, that was all the Dragons could muster, falling 3-2.
On Saturday night, February 25, the Dragons were in Blackfalds to take on the Bulldogs, who have jumped right up into second place in the south. It was a challenging game as the Bulldogs scored first and never looked back. They added two more in the second period and went on to a 3-0 win.
This Tuesday, February 28, the Dragons were in Calgary to take on the Canucks. Results were not available at press time. On Friday, they are in Okotoks to take on the Oilers, and wrap up the regular season on Saturday, March 4, at home versus the Oilers.
