Rosebud to host Ray Zachariassen golf tournament

The 5th annual Ray Zachariassen Golf Tournament goes this August 17 at Akokiniskway golf course and with a brunch, supper and a silent auction. it’s bound to be a fun time.
    The tournament is held every year in remembrance of Ray Zachariassen, a man instrumental in bringing the Akokiniskway golf course to Rosebud. The story goes that one day, Ray took his friend Albert Clark out golfing, and Albert liked golf so much he decided to utilize a piece of farm land he had to build a golf course. He succeeded of course, and from that, Akokiniskway was born.

Delia cyclist completes fight against kids cancer

jager.jpgAfter twelve days of riding, a Delia woman has ended her fight against childhood cancer by dipping her wheels in the Atlantic ocean after cycling across Canada.
Heather Jager joined the Sears Nation Kids Cancer Ride, ending her twelve day journey on June 28 in Halifax after starting in Vancouver.
“I met some really inspiring people, lots of kids who really wrench your heart out,” Jager said. “Everybody felt like family, it was hard to say goodbye.”

Richardson Roadrunners start strong, fall short

The Richardson Roadrunners Peewee D Girls softball team was at provincials in Strathmore this past weekend, July 10 through 12, and although they came out of the gates with a strong showing, fell a little short of their goal to win provincials.
    Game play started on Friday against Calgary. With four infield home runs and a final score of 21-7, the girls were definitely warming up to play very well.
