Aquadinnies improve times in Okotoks

 Seven members of the Drumheller Aquadinnies competed at the Black and Blue meet in Okotoks February 6th and 7th. Above: Brock Hoel, 8, swam several best times and achieved his first three "B" times. Brooklyn Davies, 11, swam several improved times and achieved an "A" time in the 100m Freestyle. Janae Hoel, 10, swam several improved times and achieved "A" times in the 100m and 200m Freestyle. Below: Thirteen year old Alan Lister swam several improved times and has "B" times in all of his events. Sophia McDonald, 13, made an exceptional showing, improving several times and improving her 200m Breaststroke by four seconds. Austin Knibb, 14, swam the 400m IM and 200m Breaststroke for the first time, achieving "B" times in both. Parker Knibb, 12, (seated) swam "B" times in all of his events. Brock, Alan, Sophia, and Parker will be attending the Age Groups Trials in Sherwood Park February 26 - 28. Brooklyn, Janae, and Austin have qualified for Provincials. That competition will be held in Edmonton March 5 - 7.

Atom T3 Yavis Raptors slide into playoffs

    It was a two game weekend for the Raptors as they needed a few points to secure their playoff appearance.
    Strathmore was in town Saturday and play was underway as Strathmore took it to the Raptors early as they found themselves down 2-0.
    The Raptors re-grouped as the Nathanator took charge and buried two goals to keep Drumheller in the game. The kids were not giving up and showed determination as they have through many periods this season.

Drumheller to host provincial Minor Hockey playoffs

    Hockey Alberta has announced the 43 host sites for the Investors Group Hockey Alberta Provincials. Drumheller was selected to host the Bantam B Division and will feature around 150 amateur players from across Alberta the weekend of March 19-21.
    “Hockey Alberta looks forward to working with Drumheller during the 2010 Provincials, and knows Drumheller will make this event a “BEST EVER” experience for everyone attending,” said Annie Orton, president of Hockey Alberta.
