The Dragons fell to the north division leading Lloydminster Bobcats on Wednesday night, but Drumheller has kept its spot in third, only two points from sitting atop the standings.
    After toppling the Calgary Canucks for the second time in nearly a week, 3-2 on the road Tuesday, the Dragons hosted the Bobcats, boasting an 8-2 record in the last ten games, but lost 3-1.
    "We deserved to win, not to take anything away from the Bobcats," said coach Dan Price. "They just converted two whereas we converted one."
    Lloydminster opened the scoring on a power play after a Dragon tripping call halfway through the second period.
    Dragon Kevin McMillan notched the only point for Drumheller shortly after from an assist from the team’s top scorer, Robert Geddes with 9 points so far this season.
    The Bobcats tied it up one minute after the Dragon’s equalizer, making it 2-1 until Drumheller pulled their goalie, allowing the Lloydminster to sink an empty net goal with only 20 seconds left on the board.
    Wednesday’s homegame will be the team’s last until next Saturday, as the team will hit the road to meet Bonnyville again on Saturday, October 9, and then to Fort McMurray to play the Oil Barons Sunday.
    The Bonnyville Pontiacs sit in second place, one point behind the leading Bobcats. Drumheller took an overtime loss to the Pontiacs at home last Friday.
    The Dragons’ next home game is against the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Saturday, October 16.

    Winning on Saturday and losing Sunday, the Drumheller Dragons are now tied for the second place spot in the southern division of the AJHL.
    On Saturday evening, the Dragons were on the road in Bonnyville to redeem themselves against the Pontiacs who took an overtime win on October 1.
