With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Leona Stolz at the Peter Lougheed Centre on August 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 27, 1933 in Burstall, Saskatchewan to Sopfia and John Roth. Leona and Hugo spent their early years in Empress and then moved to Rosebud in 1966. They retired to Strathmore in 2004. Leaving to mourn is her husband of 54 years, Hugo; daughters Charlotte Watson, Elaine (Paul) Larsen, and Janice (Ross) Collins; eight grandchildren, Stacey (Travis) Georgsen, Keith (Sandra) Wilkinson, Lonnie (Justin) Fletcher, Reade Wilkinson, Glenna (Shane) Dixon, Shaun (Cindy) Collins, Lance (Trish) Larsen, and Randi Collins (Mike Inglis); twelve great-grandchildren, Justin and Mackenzie, Owen and Ethan, Adler, Tanner, Charley, Bryar and Piper, Brooke, Sarah and Emma. Leona was predeceased by her daughter Lois Wilkinson and many other loved ones. A celebration of life for Leona will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Standard Community Hall at 1:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Catherine Beatrice Veinotte Craig (53) resident of Duncan, B.C., formerly Drumheller, AB, sadly passed away on July 30, 2018. Cathy was born in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, to Judith-Ann Tanner and Carl Douglas Veinotte on November, 11, 1964. She leaves behind her Father, Carl Veinotte (Shirley Veinotte), spouse Drake Dyck, and 3 sons Chad Craig (Jessika Short), Mathias Baron-Veinotte, and Cody Craig (Miakaela Whitlaw). Her siblings Duane Veinotte (Rachel), Krystal Veinotte (Blake), Chris Christensen (Nicki), Kevin Christensen (Bev), Brian Christensen (Ellen), Greg Christensen, Anna Morrow (Bill), Teresa Davis (Brad). As well as her grandchildren Summer, Cassidy and Jeremy. She also leaves behind Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many friends. First and foremost, Cathy’s family was a huge part of her life, she was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. Cathy was a life long learner and successful Travel Agent. Her work lead her to travel many parts of the world, which was among one of her great passions. Cathy was an incredibly hard worker, full of drive and ambition. She was quick witted, humorous and full of a passionate laughter. Since her childhood she has always loved the ocean and was especially fond of lighthouses. The lighthouse will always be symbolic of who she was. A light in the storm, guiding herself or others out of troubled waters. Cathy will be forever remembered, and held in our hearts. There will be a Celebration of Life in Drumheller at the Midland Hall, Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Dorothy Anna Borwick (nee Ryning) passed away peacefully at home in Calgary on August 17, 2018. Dorothy was born in Drumheller on January 22, 1928. She grew up on the Ryning family farm in the Ant Hill District, west of Rowley. Dorothy completed her high school in Drumheller. During her high school years (1942-1946) she lived in the “Dorm” where she made many lifelong friends. Dorothy received teacher training at the Calgary Branch of the University of Alberta and subsequently taught at Two Valley View and Rowley. In 1950 she and Don married. They lived in Dawson Creek, Edmonton and Calgary. After retirement, Dorothy and Don enjoyed many trailer trips in Canada and the U.S., and travelled to Europe, New Zealand and Australia. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Don, her daughters Diane (Bob Love), Marilyn (Ken Veres), Carol (Gerald Sonnenberg) and Janice (Monte Hindbo), her grandchildren Shannon (Tim), Christianna, Andrew, Morgan (Lindsay), Julie, Gina, Kirsten, Margrete, Michelle, Mark and Ben, and her great-grandchildren Nolan, Austin and Gemma. She will also be remembered by her sister Ruth Rieb, sisters-in-law Doreen Ryning and Betty Ryning, and her brother-in-law Ian Borwick (Kathy). Dorothy was predeceased by her son Garry, granddaughter Elise, and siblings Marian, Frances, Bill, George and John. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday August 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Eden Brook Funeral Home, (17th Avenue S.W. and Lower Springbank Road), Calgary, Alberta, with Reverend Jope Langejans officiating.
