On the morning of November 27, Marcel Deschenes of East Coulee, Alberta passed away peacefully at 71 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Beverly and his two daughters Selene (Jim) Wray of Regina and Claire (Kyle) Wade of Langdon. He graduated from the Alberta College of Art in Calgary and spent most of his life following his passion for creativity. This creativity led to a diverse career which included instructing a variety of art programs as well as painting dinosaur bone casts, murals, museum exhibits and working as a scenic painter in the movie industry. With his eye for beauty, he inspired others with his talents. He was a deeply caring humanitarian who always put his family and friends first. He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends near and far. A celebration of Marcel’s life will be held at the East Coulee School Museum on Saturday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. Since Marcel had a deep passion for music and loved community radio music, memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to CKUA radio, the East Coulee Museum or a charity of your choice.

Wayne passed away October 1, 2018 in Wainwright, Alberta at the age of 36 years. Wayne was many things, a son to his Mother, Judy (Pieter) Van Otterloo from Drumheller, a father to his children Jessica-Lynn Perkins and Wyatt Perkins of Wainwright, Alberta, a brother to his sisters, Theresa (Terry Hall) Perkins from Stettler, Leslie (Steve Bamber) Perkins from Fallis, Alberta and Jaylene (Ryan Quillinan) Perkins from Edmonton, Alberta, a step-brother to Peter (Chantalle) Van Otterloo from Three Hills, Alberta and Tanya Van Otterloo from Beiseker, Alberta, an Uncle to many Nieces and Nephews. Lastly, Wayne was a Fireman. Wayne was a volunteer firefighter in the Edgerton Emergency Services and most recently in the Wainwright Fire and Rescue for a total of eleven years. His family was his first love, but his involvement with firefighting ran a close second. He loved it and it showed when he talked about it and shared his stories with his family. Wayne drove and operated the pumpers, it was his responsibility to get the crew to and from the fire safely and then make sure the crew had a steady supply of water while fighting the fire. Wayne was a man of few words, he loved the simple things in life. He enjoyed his time helping friends on their farms, hunting, camping, fishing and being with his family. A Celebration of Life with Full Firefighter Honors for a Fallen Brother was held on October 9, 2018 at the Wainwright Legion.
